XDA's Megan Ellis added PDF manuals for devices around the home (TV, air purifier, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, earphones and more) to NotebookLM, now called Gemini Notebook, mostly by pasting PDF links. Asked why dishes were still dirty after a wash cycle, it gave the answers Ellis had found in the manual in a few seconds, against 30 minutes spent searching the paper manual before. It couldn't say which of two headphone buttons was power, and its description of the dryer's heat exchanger still needed checking against the manual.

Anu Joy built a NotebookLM notebook for their refrigerator from the manual, the invoice, repair guides, YouTube videos and Reddit threads, then asked why the fridge section wasn't holding temperature evenly. It listed common causes such as blocked vents, shelf obstructions and worn door gaskets. After ruling those out, Joy found the condenser coils coated in dust, cleaned them, and watched a thermometer show the cooling stabilising within about half an hour.

Organising a baby shower for three colleagues, a poster used Gemini's Storybook feature, with a photo and family names, to create a custom children's book for each family; they say the storylines were touching and the illustrations gorgeous. They also had Gemini write Family Feud-style survey questions and used NotebookLM for a comedy tribute video and an AI game-show co-host.

Hunting for a mid-size SUV in India, Android Police's Parth Shah put long reviews and hours-long YouTube comparisons into a NotebookLM notebook and asked questions such as rear-seat comfort, service costs and A/C performance, with links back to each source. After settling on a car, Shah uploaded insurers' policy brochures and asked about accidental-damage exclusions, cancellation fees, cashless claims at service centers in Surat and natural-disaster cover, and says NotebookLM pulled out the exact clauses.

Moving into a newly bought apartment, Mitja Rutnik uploaded the purchase documents to Gemini to ask about confusing clauses, such as a warranty policy that only referenced laws, and set up a NotebookLM notebook with the full 100+ page document set for quick look-ups. Gemini also advised on colour schemes, furniture proportions, counter-to-table clearance, rug size and lumens and colour temperature per room, suggested how to tackle bathroom floor stains, summarized warranty rights when raising defects with the developer, and gave layout ideas from the floor plan. Rutnik still had to build a 3D model in a separate app.
