The platform's solution marked B, D and F, but D said '9,615 rounded to the billions is 10,000', which is false. When Mendoza asked ChatGPT to review it, it first said Santillana was right, reading 'billions' as if it were 'thousands'. Only when Mendoza pointed to the exact word did ChatGPT acknowledge the error. The son had been right from the beginning.

For PCMag, Ruben Circelli asked three agents to find J. Kenji López-Alt's no-stir risotto recipe, research the best version of each ingredient at the local Wegmans and add them to an Instacart cart. ChatGPT's Dots, once Instacart was connected, found the recipe, researched the ingredients and filled the cart without issue. Meta's Muse got there slowly, needed Circelli to log in and enter a verification code, and added saffron threads that aren't in the recipe. Gemini's Spark found the recipe and proposed ingredients but couldn't access the account, tried to take over Chrome and froze.

Amanda Smith pays $25 a month for a Visible plan and gets a lot of spam calls and texts asking for someone called Andrew, probably the number's previous owner. Visible has no phone line, so Smith asked Muse to check they were formally listed as the number's owner and to find where the number was linked to Andrew. Within seconds it found the number on a data broker page. But Visible blocks bots, and its guest chat wouldn't send Muse's message, then blocked it; taking over the browser led to a 403 error. Muse drafted a message for Smith to paste into the Visible app, and advised requesting removal from WhitePages and FastBackgroundCheck, though the WhitePages form wouldn't let Smith click Next. Visible's advanced support was still pending. Smith found Muse acted more like a chatbot giving instructions, though testing it made Smith finally deal with the task.

A Topretirements blogger's Medicare Part D drug plan wrote to say the 2027 premium would rise from $98.30 to $126 a month. They asked ChatGPT for cheaper options, giving their Florida ZIP code, their medications and preferred pharmacies. It suggested several, including a plan at $5.30 a month in their area, $1,448.40 a year less in premiums. They didn't switch on ChatGPT's word alone: as their insurance agent also advised, they checked it in Medicare's official Plan Finder, which confirmed the switch made sense, and enrolled. They get most prescriptions through the VA, so the cheapest premium suited them; they note others need to compare total yearly cost.

Dave W Plummer missed an important appearance and asked the ChatGPT desktop app, which has access to their Gmail, to work out how it happened. It found Plummer had noon in mind, the time of an earlier prep call, while the event started at 7:50 a.m. Pacific, with emails also mentioning 8:50 a.m. Mountain. When Codex then reconstructed the email trail, it found the organiser had cancelled the calendar invite sent to Plummer's regular address while sorting out a Teams login mismatch, and the later confirmation email had no new invite. With Codex, Plummer then set up a recurring agent that reads email threads, including changes and cancellations, adds missing calendar entries with the source email and link, and flags contradictions. Test alerts at first didn't notify on the iPhone; after checking alarms, sync and Focus settings, a test finally rang. It now checks every ten minutes while the Mac is awake; its first historical review was still running.

Claude Cowork walked them through setting up an agent that logs in every Monday night, checks overdue accounts receivable and matches customer names against a Google Sheet of contacts. Using Michel's email template, it adds the contact name, invoice number, amount and due date, puts the emails in the Drafts folder and sends Michel a report of which customers were included, what each owes and the totals. Gizmodo's Webb Wright had some badly delayed flights that forced them to pay for Lyft rides home in the early hours, and asked Muse to request refunds. Given screenshots of the receipts and the flight details, Muse drafted decent emails, courteous but firm. But buried inside one draft was the important point that the airlines didn't take refund requests by email, so the drafts would have to be pasted into the airlines' websites. Webb ended up opening a browser and entering the details by hand, though they did use the message Muse had drafted.

Muse logged in to their Facebook account, searched Marketplace for couches, lamps and rugs, and could draft and send messages to sellers with their approval, managing the replies while they did other things. They now own a Muse-sourced dining table. When they gave Dots their Facebook login to do the same, Meta flagged it as a bot and temporarily locked their Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. Later, Muse pushed them seven times in three days to join Target's membership program and buy a lamp on sale.

Gemini's auto-browse explained it couldn't use the websites and handed back a comparison table to fill in. ChatGPT took 2 hours and 279 messages across 12 attempts and got no quotes; Toeung believes sites such as Allstate, Nationwide and Liberty Mutual block AI agents. Claude ran for 3.3 hours and got 5 real quotes. Muse, on its free tier, used several sub-agents and got 5 quotes in about 20 minutes. Toeung switched insurer and got about twice the cover for around 40% of the previous price.

Gono built an application tracker with Claude, had it pull the main skills and keywords from each job description and compare them with the résumé, and used it as a career coach, which led to three résumés for analytics, sales and marketing, and consulting. Where interviewers allowed recording, Gono ran sentiment analysis on the notes to see where Gono hesitated or used filler words. The tracker showed 186 applications, 44 cold outreaches, 19 interviews, six take-home assignments, three final rounds and one offer, as a senior associate at DoorDash.

It can sign in with passwords, but wouldn't fetch two-factor codes from email even with email access, and its permissions checker rejected broad rules neom wrote, such as proceeding with routine, reversible actions without asking. neom finds it faster to use regular chat.

Xcelerate needed two rental cars that could each carry seven people for a trip to Maine, and had memberships with Avis, Hertz, Costco and Chase's travel portal; checking every combination by hand would have taken forever. They wrote a Codex prompt in 20 minutes and let it use the browser directly. It queued any CAPTCHAs for them to solve, and a sub-agent searched Reddit for other people's ways of getting good rental deals. It found a third-party Avis reseller charging $600 with a discount code, against $1,100 cheapest from Avis directly. By those quoted prices that's about $500 less for both cars (the poster calls it a $1,000 saving), and they say they wouldn't have found it without about a week of manual searching.

Weeks later the cat stopped eating and declined fast; after-hours ER care in LA cost $7,500 for two days of life support before any diagnosis, and treatment moved to a clinic in Tijuana. thobes ran each batch of test results through Claude, which kept saying to look into FIP and to push the vet to test the stomach fluid for it, though the first vet waved it off. When the Tijuana clinic was asked for the extra FIP test they first refused ('AI is not a vet'), then agreed. It came back positive, the cat got a prescription and is expected to live. thobes says not to trust medical decisions to AI entirely.

Asked how much tickets to Verdi's Macbeth at the Met were, it first gave a general web answer, but when asked to check the official site it opened a browser and found a $71 seat (including a $10 service charge) for a weekday evening, logged in and teed it up for checkout. Patterson cancelled, then had it go through every remaining performance of a limited-run Off-Broadway play, finding which had seats and the best price, $92.41. For Hamilton in the next 30 days it found a rear-mezzanine seat for a Saturday matinee at $222 all-in. Patterson didn't buy this time.

Their edits feed back into its playbook, and it has got pretty good. It handles warranty claims (ask for a photo of the damage and the order number, create a replacement order, email a confirmation) and most common questions. Every reply is still approved by a human, though they plan to let it handle common cases on its own soon.

They opened a Claude project called "Move Back to the Netherlands", gave it their history, details about their kids and what was already sorted (they still had Dutch bank accounts and a phone number), and asked for a full plan covering housing, schools and childcare, moving both cars, taxes and municipality paperwork. In five minutes the plan surfaced a few things they had forgotten. Claude then built a tracker in Notion with owner, deadline and category for each task plus a "this week" view, and put key dates into Google Calendar, including a call to the municipality. Some items didn't apply and some deadlines moved once checked against their work calendar, so they spent ten more minutes adjusting it.

It booked a refundable multi-leg flight and a refundable hotel, got the bank statement, dug through email for papers such as the passport photo and I-94, wrote a day-by-day itinerary and filled in the online form. But it couldn't size the passport photo (made from a selfie with ChatGPT) to fit the frame or upload most of the files; one field accepted only JPG, not PDF, and images had to be under 2MB, so they had Muse convert and compress files. After two pet insurance policies lapsed, Dimitri Sudomoin was billed $359 in 'earned premium' and spent two months being threatened with collections. Weeks of emails with the insurer's customer team got nowhere and a supervisor closed the thread saying they had gone as far as they could. With Claude planning the campaign, Sudomoin filed a complaint with the insurer's home-state regulator in New York and emailed two of its executives. Two months after a water pipe burst in their house, wellpast is using Claude to run their side of the claim with a large insurer. It reads the policy, organises and files scans of receipts for additional living expenses (ALE), reads and flags messages from the agents, logs all correspondence, work estimates and invoices, points out when the insurer is delaying or not keeping promises, and challenges coverage decisions based on the policy. The adjuster gets very tidy, documented receipts and logs. The delays have been bad enough that Claude now insists they should file a complaint with the state insurance department. Without Claude, they say, they'd probably have given up from fatigue.

Christopher Johnson built a Claude Code skill in about twenty minutes to act as a travel agent, sorting flights and places to stay for a business trip. Asked for real prices, it gave ranges, such as 'Flights typically run $280 to $420', and none of them was a price they could actually pay. Claude explained that the booking sites load prices with JavaScript after the page renders, which its tools couldn't see, so it had been estimating. With the Claude in Chrome extension installed and the same skill and request, it opened the sites and returned three specific places to stay with current prices and direct links. It was slower and used more of the plan's usage limits. They kept 'Act without asking' off, and Claude never bought anything.

Trull planned to take those questions back to both contractors, and to ask the cheaper one to add drainage and backfill, before signing anything.

The workaround worked, and Newton says the truck runs better than before.
