Evidence: Described by posterThe person describes what happened in words, without screenshots or video.
Context: Prompt guide: a shared prompt, not a record of a completed task. The post's claim that goals will be 'legally defensible' is the poster's view; check with a qualified advocate.
Beginner-friendlyNo logins, payments or coding needed. Low risk: paste the prompt and you should get something useful.
Outcome
Raquel Contreras-Vides, a parent of a neurodivergent son, shares a ChatGPT prompt for annual IEP (ARD) meetings: ChatGPT takes the role of a special education advocate in your state, reviews the attached IEP, goals and accommodations, and generates key questions and quantitative goals, asking you for details if it needs them.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about anything important that's missing below. Keep them quick. Then do the task, checking in with me at the key points. Goal: Review my child's current IEP and help me prepare questions and measurable goals for the annual meeting. What I can give you (ask for whatever's missing): - The current IEP, goals and accommodations - My state - My child's recent progress and concerns Rules: - Ask me what you need before drafting. - Make every proposed goal measurable, with a baseline and a target. - Label anything about special education law as something to check with my state's guidance or an advocate. - Keep questions collaborative, not combative. - Check facts that can change (prices, opening hours, dates, availability, rules) against the official source, and tell me anything you couldn't verify. - Before you finish, list which goals depend on data I should ask the school for. Output: A list of key questions and draft measurable goals, grouped by area. You'll know it worked when: I go into the meeting with clear questions and specific goals to discuss. Before you finish: re-read my goal and constraints, check your answer against each one, and list anything you assumed or couldn't confirm.

During three months of a mother's illness across three hospitals, Dror Grof fed ChatGPT charts, doctors' notes, medications and daily updates. After realizing medical decisions belonged with the care team, Grof used it to explain jargon, suggest what to ask next, set up a subjective pain scale (some staff asked to see it as a graph), keep one source of truth when doctors changed, transcribe some conversations, and draft transition reports between facilities.

- Compare two contractor quotes for a driveway and retaining wall with ChatGPT and catch the missing drainageEvidence: Described by posterPartialBeginner-friendly
Jeffrey Trull had two quotes for a driveway extension and retaining wall worth a few thousand dollars, from contractors they'd never used. One was $500 cheaper. They fed both into ChatGPT, which took 5 minutes. It flagged that the cheaper quote didn't mention drainage or backfill, and explained that water building up behind a retaining wall can make it fail; the dearer quote included a full drainage system with stone backfill. It also set out the trade-off between the nicer interlocking blocks and basic cement blocks, and wrote follow-up questions for each contractor, since one quote gave no wall dimensions and the other didn't explain ground prep. Trull planned to take those questions back to both contractors, and to ask the cheaper one to add drainage and backfill, before signing anything.

- Practise interview answers out loud with ChatGPT voice mode, not memorised scripts (partial)Recreated promptEvidence: Described by posterPartial
On their way to interviews at Microsoft, Bain and Sweetgreen, a job seeker who writes the Ambitious Slacker newsletter pasted job descriptions into ChatGPT and had it interview them in voice mode, answering out loud and asking for feedback. That practice helped. Having ChatGPT write answers to memorise backfired: after a final round at Target, the interviewer said they were the best candidate but the company chose an internal candidate because they sounded too scripted. Once they stopped memorising and practised a few stories out loud, they did much better.
