Outcome
A Japanese note.com writer used ChatGPT to manage the many small, time-sensitive tasks of a move, starting with 'Summarize what I need to do for my move' and adding things as they came up, like using up the fridge. She says she did the procedures herself but barely had to think about what to do next.

Summarize what I need to do for my move

Sends the Original prompt shown above. ChatGPT and Grok open with it filled in, and ChatGPT may send it straight away. Gemini opens empty, so we copy the prompt for you to paste. Every button also copies it.

Before you start, ask me 1–3 short questions about anything important that's missing below. Keep them quick. Then do the task, checking in with me at the key points.
Goal: Be my moving assistant: keep one running to-do list with deadlines and tell me what to do next each time I check in.
What I can give you (ask for whatever's missing):
- Move date, from and to
- Utilities and services to stop or transfer (water, gas, electricity, internet)
- Local rules I know about (bulky waste days, registration at the city office)
- What's in the fridge and freezer
Rules:
- Start with a dated task list working back from the move date.
- Each time I add something ('use up the fridge'), slot it into the right day and re-show only the next 7 days.
- Schedule disposal around local collection days if I give them.
- Keep me to the deadlines that matter most (utility transfers, official registrations).
- Check facts that can change (prices, opening hours, dates, availability, rules) against the official source, and tell me anything you couldn't verify.
- Offer to turn the dated tasks into calendar reminders.
Output: A short 'this week' list each time, plus the full list on request.
You'll know it worked when: I always know the next thing to do and no deadline sneaks up on me.
Before you finish: re-read my goal and constraints, check your answer against each one, and list anything you assumed or couldn't confirm.Source

- Make a prioritised before-and-after moving checklist and share it as a spreadsheet with ChatGPT and GeminiRecreated promptEvidence: Article or interviewBeginner-friendly
Lifehacker Japan's editor-in-chief Misa Maruyama, planning a May move within Shibuya, asked ChatGPT for a checklist of council paperwork and personal tasks before and after the move, ordered by urgency, with checkboxes and suited to someone who can only prepare evenings and weekends. Maruyama asked for a second list of personal tasks, then for both tables in a printable format, and pasted the result into a notes app. Trying the same in Gemini, they could export the table straight to Google Sheets to share tasks with household members, though the links didn't carry over.

- Set up tap-to-see box inventories with NFC tags for a move with ChatGPTRecreated promptEvidence: Described by posterBeginner-friendly
Moving out with belongings stored at a friend's house while staying with family before three weeks in Europe, Nicole Leffer asked ChatGPT for a way to know what was in each box without opening it. It suggested NFC sticker tags (100 for about $26) and walked through setting up iPhone Shortcuts so each tag opens a numbered note. As boxes were packed, including by movers, each note got the box's destination, photos and a list of contents. Tapping a box now shows what's inside, and searching notes found an external monitor without opening boxes.

- Win a rent tribunal complaint over a move-out repainting bill with ChatGPT structuring the evidenceRecreated promptEvidence: Described by poster
After moving out of a rental flat in Denmark after one year, Andreas Strandfelt was billed a surprisingly high amount for repainting, despite detailed move-in documentation, a thorough move-out inspection and evidence that an identical neighbouring flat had been painted more for less that month. The landlord wouldn't explain the costs. Strandfelt used ChatGPT to structure a complaint to the local rent tribunal, referencing the email thread, the move-in and move-out reports and the relevant legal paragraphs. The tribunal ruled in their favour, and the landlord had to return more of the deposit. The costs were 300 DKK to file and less than 200 DKK for a month of ChatGPT Plus.
